- Robert Thaler · Top Commenterthis age of excess will be remembered by many such things as this. While effectively 38% of the population is unemployed or severely underemployed, semi-literate stars worth over 100 million lounge in excess and ostentatious display. The public is bombarded constantly with this propaganda to keep them dreaming about one day winning the Lotto. So instead of being rightfully insulted they trail off into fantasy and denial. There is zero difference between this time and 1780 in France, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..."

- Robert King · Top Commenter · Pasadena, CaliforniaYeah somewhere out there is a person with a lot less then you that's pissed about your stuff too. I say to you, do what you can afford. This party for them is like you dropping 50.00 as the pub. No big deal. Also, you should check some of these guys charities out. You would be surprised. It is not an age of excess. This stuff has been going on for as long as people have had money to spend. This is the age of take a picture and post it for the world to see.

- Dterry TerrydOk point well made , so I ask you if you make the same comparison to wall street Ivy league billionaires, who are "literate" and make up less than 2 percent of the population yet pay less in taxes than the average and also use tax dollars to bail them out in times of hardship i could go on an on, but I guess what I am asking is that is this your way of pointing out athletes because they are wealthy and are the poster-boys for their teams and if so why not point out the owners who make far more than the athlete...You seem a little biased and angry and yet you point out their literacy levels as if that should factor in on their athletic skills....hmm i think there s more to your rant (which I wont stoop to even mentioning) If this is about Capitalism... then let them party as they wish for they have earned the right to do so....never degrade or denigrate those who have more than you ...Aspire to be greater and set your own course so you to can share in the joys an wealth of all this nation has to offer..

- Robert King · Top Commenter · Pasadena, Californiajust realized you referenced 1780 France and so will I. If anyone is whining about another persons money and how they spend it then "Qu'ils mangent de la brioche" (let them eat cake).
